Program Details: Values-Based Language Program (VBLP) – for Children VBLP is an innovative teaching method combining the learning of a foreign language with the incorporation of human values in the curriculum. Kids learn a new language in an interactive, sensorial, creative and gentle atmosphere and, at the same time, add blocks of knowledge to their character building process. Inspired by elements of Waldorf, Montessori and Reggio Emilia philosophies, VBLP places emphasis on the development of a foreign language through creative expressions including: - Songs - Verses & Poetry - Stories - Games - Dramatic Play - Art - Celebration of seasonal festivals In addition, human values’ learning is embedded in all activities, exploring five main values (i.e., right conduct, peace, love, truth and non-violence) and their sub-values. The program is designed for Kindergarten to Grade 3 students. Older kids (Grade 4 to Grade 6) are welcome to the program and, aside of participating in the regular activities of the group, they may be provided with additional, more challenging activities. The program aims to cover the following topics: • HUMAN VALUES • Alphabet • Numbers • Objects • Parts of the body • Daily Activities • Feelings • Days of the week, months, seasons • Articles of Clothing • Main Colours • Family & Community • Nature Elements • Activities of daily routine • Respond to simple commands and basic questions Older kids will be exposed to writing, grammar and asked to take a more active role orally (e.g., read aloud to other kids; provide the next step of a story being told by the teacher, etc.).
